Santo Cilauro: Making It Possible

Santo Cilauro: Making It Possible

Is Santo Cilauro one of the hardest working men in Australian show business?

Even if he was just an original member of the D-Generation, and one of the team behind Aussie classic The Castle, Santo would have made his mark in Australian film and TV.

Remarkably though, he is also an accomplished film producer, screenwriter, author and cameraman.

He has been involved in popular shows such as Russell Coight's All Aussie Adventures, Thank God You're Here, and Frontline; as well as paying homage to the sports he loves in Santo, Sam and Ed's Sports Fever.

His star has also shone brightly internationally, with his pop star creation Zladko Vladcik becoming a viral internet sensation.

Writer, producer, actor, soccer fanatic ... terrible singer. Santo Cilauro is a man of many talents. Now he's throwing his support behind the Make it Possible campaign.

As a passionate and gifted Australian — Santo knows that it is not just human kind that have been born with unique personalities and abilities — that it is time to recognise that animals have them too. One of the tragedies of factory farming is that the fact that each and every one of these animals and birds is a unique, individual living being, is ignored in the desire to maximise profit and productivity.

When you realise that pigs have the cognitive ability of a 3 year old child — it changes the way you think about them — but as Santo knows it is not only their ability to think that matters — it is their ability to feel.

If there's one thing that can be said for animals, it is that they give so much and yet ask for so little. Providing them with a life worth living and protection from cruel treatment — is not much to ask of us in return.

If you, like Santo, believe in a world without factory farming, then take the Make it Possible pledge and start squaring the ledger. We have some making up to do!

Watch the extended Make it Possible web video, featuring Santo and other Australian celebrities.
