Claire Hooper: Making It Possible

Claire Hooper: Making It Possible

On stage, on radio and on TV - Claire Hooper has done it all. With each new venture she has found new success and plenty of ways to make us laugh.

She first came to prominence as an accomplished stand-up and improv performer. It didn't take long for the television producers to start knocking on her door.

Claire has since appeared as a team captain on Good News Week, and made several appearances on televised comedy galas, as well as appearing in the Great Debate as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

You can still get your Claire Hooper fix on Sydney's Mix106.5 breakfast radio, as well as spotting her at comedy rooms around the country.

For comedienne Claire, the loneliest time in her routine is that moment she first steps out onto the stage — unsure of whether the audience is on her side or not.

Whilst that moment of loneliness is fleeting before she connects with the audience — it is not a pleasant feeling — and makes Claire instantly empathise with what it must be like to carry that throughout the day... every day...

It is not only comics who are gregarious; it is not only human mothers who want to nurture and interact with their babies — these traits are part of the lives of pigs as well.

You don't have to be a comic or a mother to recognise how awful life must be for mother pigs confined in a metal crate barely bigger than her body. One day like this would be intolerable, but mother pigs are kept like this for weeks, and sometimes months on end.

For Claire, a successful gig left her feeling that despite an audience full of strangers, she was amongst friends. As a passionate animal advocate, Claire knows that the hand of friendship and caring is what we desperately need to extend to animals in factory farms — despite the fact that we will never meet them.

As a joy giver by nature, and by profession, Claire has enthusiastically become part of the Make it Possible team — spreading the word — that together simply through the choices that we make, we can make a kinder world possible.
