Whilst that moment of loneliness is fleeting before she connects with the audience — it is not a pleasant feeling — and makes Claire instantly empathise with what it must be like to carry that throughout the day... every day...
It is not only comics who are gregarious; it is not only human mothers who want to nurture and interact with their babies — these traits are part of the lives of pigs as well.
You don't have to be a comic or a mother to recognise how awful life must be for mother pigs confined in a metal crate barely bigger than her body. One day like this would be intolerable, but mother pigs are kept like this for weeks, and sometimes months on end.
For Claire, a successful gig left her feeling that despite an audience full of strangers, she was amongst friends. As a passionate animal advocate, Claire knows that the hand of friendship and caring is what we desperately need to extend to animals in factory farms — despite the fact that we will never meet them.
As a joy giver by nature, and by profession, Claire has enthusiastically become part of the Make it Possible team — spreading the word — that together simply through the choices that we make, we can make a kinder world possible.
